Arthur B. Collier 1950 - Baseball, Basketball, Football

One of the most versatile athletes in the late 40's, Art Collier, inducted into the UVM Hall of Fame in 1977, received 11 varsity letters and was the only three-sport letterman for many years.

Said Gil Wood of the Vermont Sunday News in 1950, "We just like his type of athlete. Art's a regular guy, popular with just about everyone. He's not one of those flashy stars, he never seemed able to rise to those heights, But, we think his coaches, Fuzzy Evans in football and basketball and Larry Gardner in baseball, will agree that they have never had a pupil who put out for them any more than Collier did over a four year period."

Probably best known for his two-way duties in football, offensive end and quarterback and a member of the defensive secondary. Collier had eleven career interceptions and scored six TDs. In addition to football, he earned three letters in basketball and four in baseball. His athletic participation didn't stop with graduation, as Collier played 11 years (1950-61) in the German-American Soccer League, retiring in 1961 because he sustained a broken leg.
