Lyn Jordan McCarthy 1985 - Lacrosse

One of the most dominant women's lacrosse players ever to play at UVM and a 1999 Athletic Hall of Fame inductee, Lyn Jordan McCarthy's records have rarely been challenged in the years since she graduated.

A transfer from Penn State, her assault on the Vermont lacrosse record book encompassed only three seasons. She graduated as the Catamounts all-time leading scorer with 157 points on a school-record 126 goals and 31 assists. Jordan McCarthy was the first Catamount to score over 100 goals including a phenomenal 57 goals in just 12 games in 1984.

During the 1984 season, in which the Cats' won a school-record nine games, she scored three or more goals in every game but one. The exception was versus national power New Hampshire, when she scored both UVM goals in a 15-2 loss. Twice in 1984, against Plymouth State and Rhode Island, she scored eight goals in a game to establish a UVM single-game record. She also scored seven against Boston University, six against Middlebury, and five versus both Boston College and Colgate.

A graduate of the Springside School in Philadelphia, Jordan McCarthy had three or more goals in five games and had a seven-point game against Clarkson as a sophomore. Her season totals were 24 goals and 12 assists for 36 points. As a senior, she scored 45 of the team's 84 goals and had 11 assists. Twice she tallied six goals in a game against Northeastern and southern power James Madison. Also she scored five times against St. Lawrence and versus Plymouth State, in which she set a new school single-game record with eight points on five goals and three assists.

Since graduating from UVM, Jordan McCarthy was the girl's varsity lacrosse coach at her local high school team in Morristown, N.J. for two seasons. A tremendous natural athlete, she has won the women's club championship at the prestigious Baltusrol Golf Club in Springfield, N.J. in 1992 and 1994.
