A two-time America East First-Team All-Conference selection and three-time team MVP, Tony Orciari finished his stellar four-year career as one of the top players in the history of the men’s basketball program at UVM. Orciari was the 2001 J. Edward Donnelly Award winner, which is given to the school’s top male and female student-athletes.

A native of St. Johnsbury, Vt., Orciari was only the second UVM player to earn all-conference honors for four straight years (Hall of Famer Eddie Benton ’96 is the other). He finished with 1,743 career points, second all-time at UVM and 14th-best in conference history. The school’s all-time leader in three-pointers with 305, Orciari was the second player in conference history to make more than 300 career threes.

When he graduated Orciari was among the school’s all-time leaders in scoring average (16.0 - sixth), free-throw percentage (80.5 – sixth), assists (269 – seventh), steals (139 – fifth) and games played (109 – sixth).

Prior to his senior year he was named to the Associated Press All-American Team as an honorable mention and followed that up by leading the team in scoring for the third straight season (17.7 ppg) and his 92 three-pointers set a new conference single-season record. In addition, his 3.4 three-pointers per game were sixth nationally.

The 1998 America East Rookie of the Year, Orciari was also named to the league’s second team all-conference that season after averaging 14.7 points per game. As a sophomore he earned third team honors and made his first appearance on the America East First Team as a junior. Orciari was also named second-team All-New England as a junior and a senior.
